Carla Fedor, RN, CDDN

Fedor

Carla has more than 20 years of experience as a nurse working in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) field in New Mexico. As Nurse Manager with the Continuum of Care at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, she organizes, participates, and tracks follow up care for several specialty clinics at the University and around the state. She specializes in seizure management issues and is the only nurse in New Mexico specializing in the Ketogenic Diet for the treatment of intractable epilepsy. Her other area of expertise is in the use of the Vagal Nerve Stimulator (VNS) for management and reduction of seizures.

She continues to present training workshops on a variety of topics to nurses, educators, staff and families of people with I/DD. She has worked closely with the NM Department of Health to develop trainings for nurses and health professionals on topics relevant to daily health care and preventive health care for people with I/DD.

She is actively involved in the national and state levels of the Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association and is President of the New Mexico Chapter.  She is a Certified Developmental Disabilities Nurse.
